The Forte di Bard, remained almost intact since its construction, is one of the best examples of barrage fortress of the early nineteenth century.

The fortress consists of three main buildings, placed at different levels, between 400 and 467 meters: lowest, the Opera Ferdinando, in the median, the Opera Vittorio, and the highest, the Opera Carlo Alberto for a total of 283 rooms.
The Ferdinando Opera presents itself to the shape of tongs and consists of two buildings, the Lower Opera Ferdinando and the Opera Ferdinando Superiore.
The Opera Mortars, placed behind him, and the adjacent Gunpowder house the rooms used in educational workshops.
